PROPOSAL CRITERIA:
1. Speaker Background and Credentials
- Professional Bio: A concise biography highlighting your leadership roles, career achievements, and relevant experience. Please include any awards, recognitions, or significant contributions to the leadership or education field.
- Educational Background: List relevant academic qualifications and leadership certifications.
- Industry Expertise: Explain how your expertise is aligned with the subject matter of the conference, and how your work contributes to the larger leadership community.
- Diasporic Background: This is a unique opportunity to amplify and learn from leaders and experts across Africa and the diaspora transforming education worldwide. Please discuss your connection to and representation of the African diaspora/Black community.
2. Presentation Location, Title and Topic
- Conference Location: Are you proposing to present at Diaspora District-USA 2025, Diaspora District-Ghana 2025, or both? Diaspora District-Ghana 2025 will be in Accra, Ghana on July 17-19, 2025.
- Proposed Presentation Title: A compelling title that captures the focus of your talk.
- Topic Summary: Provide a brief description of the topic and why it is important for our audience. Include key takeaways and potential value for attendees.
3. Alignment with Conference Goals
- Conference Mission Alignment: Explain how your presentation aligns with the mission and vision of Diaspora District.
- Key Outcomes: Describe the expected outcomes or impact your presentation will have on the audience. How does it contribute to developing leaders and fostering new ideas in the field? What is the tangible/practical resource, tool, or information they will leave with and apply to their practice following the conference?
4. Relevance to Audience
- Target Audience: Specify which audience segments (e.g., C-suite executives, educational leaders, political leaders, etc.) will benefit most from your presentation.
- Learning Objectives: Define 3-5 clear learning objectives that participants will achieve by attending your session.
5. Speaker Credibility and Experience
- Previous Speaking Engagements: List any relevant past speaking engagements, workshops, or panels, especially at leadership or educational conferences.
- References or Testimonials: Provide testimonials from previous engagements, highlighting the impact of your presentations.
- Media Features or Publications: Include any media appearances, articles, books, or publications that showcase your thought leadership in your area of expertise.
6. Social Media Presence and Platforms
- Social Media Profiles: Provide links to your active social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram) where you engage with your professional community. Highlight the size of your following and your engagement levels on topics related to leadership, education, or other relevant fields.
- Social Media Strategy: Describe how you will promote your involvement in the conference on your social platforms and engage your audience pre- and post-event.
7. Video and Curriculum Examples
- Video Samples of Previous Presentations: Submit links to videos of your previous speaking engagements at conferences or events (YouTube, Vimeo, or other platforms). This will help the vetting committee assess your presentation style, delivery, and audience engagement.
- Curriculum or Presentation Materials: Include examples of curriculum, handouts, or presentation slides used in previous conferences. This will provide insight into the content quality and structure of your sessions.
8. Presentation Format and Engagement
- Format Description: Describe your preferred format (e.g., keynote, interactive workshop, panel discussion) and how it will be structured to maximize engagement.
- Audience Engagement Strategies: Detail your strategies for engaging the audience during your session (e.g., Q&A, group activities, case studies).
9. Technical and Logistical Requirements
- AV and Technical Needs: Outline any specific technical or audiovisual requirements you need for the session (e.g., projector, microphone, interactive polls).
- Handouts or Materials: Indicate if you will provide handouts, resources, or materials for attendees to take away from your presentation.
10. Speaker Availability and Scheduling
- Preferred Session Length: State the ideal length of your session (e.g., 30 minutes, 1 hour, half-day).
- Availability: Confirm your availability for the conference dates and indicate your willingness to participate in additional conference activities such as networking sessions or panels.
11. Honorarium or Compensation Expectations
- Compensation Request: Specify any honorarium expectations.
- Sponsorship or Partnership Opportunities: Mention if you have sponsors or partners who may be interested in collaborating with the conference, or that may be sponsoring your participation.
12. Submission Process and Deadlines
- Proposal Submission: Please attach and submit your proposal using the link below.
- Submission Deadline: Proposals must be submitted by 1/31/2025.
- Review Process: The selection committee will review proposals and inform speakers of their status by 2/15/2025. Proposals will be vetted based on relevance, credentials, and alignment with the goals of the conference.
